Inspiration Hunters – Bookshelf Edition

Having trouble coping with this recent gloomy Wisco weather? You’re not alone! We’ve been staring out the window too, wishing we were in Aruba – sunglasses on, umbrella drink in hand…le sigh.

While a tropical getaway isn’t likely to happen this year (sad trombone), we’ve been finding other ways to rally our spirits – like paging through our favorite bookshelf inspirations. Need a mood-booster? Fire up your Amazon Prime account/visit the local library, mix up a colorful cocktail, and prepare to feel better!

  1. Oh Joy: 60 Ways to Create & Give Joy – Joy Cho is pretty much our spirit animal. She’s adorable, loves whimsy and color, and shares a steady stream of accessible party and home decor DIYs in her book and online. Some of her recent products for Target are still available – we snatched up just a few goodies… IMG_3127
  2. Martha Stewart Weddings Magazine – OK, hear us out on this one. Ol’ Martha still has some surprises up her sleeve – including these pages of her seasonal mag that feature gorgeous snaps, bountiful blooms, and easy-to-follow DIY projects. When something catches our fancy we pop on over to the website to pin projects like these etched glass tumblers and dance-party-worthy glitter-soled shoes. Etched Glass Tumblers. 3. Styled: Secrets for Arranging Rooms, from Tabletops to Bookshelves – HGTV host Emily Henderson doesn’t take herself too seriously – and her colorful, girl-next-door book is proof. Dig into an refreshing collage of pretty shelfies, humorous advice, and tips for achieving that relaxed-but-trendy look in your pad.

  4. Absolutely Beautiful Things: Decorating Inspiration for a Bright and Colorful Life – We can’t deny that we originally bought this book for the sumptuous, pattered cover. But after paging through photos of designer Anna Spiro’s home and interior design projects, we felt inspired to mix up our mood board with any and all colors and prints that appealed to us. #bebold #mix Absolutely Beautiful Things
  5. Do It Yourself Magazine – We picked this one up on a whim while waiting in the grocery check out line and instantly subscribed for more. The most recent issue included tutorials for making abstract art prints like these bright hand-painted throw pillows. Yes please! Handpainted pillows. Photo by Fabric Paper Glue.

Enjoy, dear Revelers! Soak up the inspiration and stay strong – spring really is almost here! Also leave us a note with any books and magazines or blogs that inspire you – we’d love to check them out!
